What a beautiful day that we celebrate today – Memorial Day – a day set aside to specifically remember our men and women who died in military service for the United States! What honor and respect that we owe to our fallen comrades who fought and died for our country and our freedom. Hopefully amidst the beautiful celebrations with family and friends, enjoying good food and one another’s company, we don’t forget to say a prayer in thanksgiving to God for our deceased soldiers. Although both of my grandfathers died years after they served our country, one as a Marine and the other in the Navy, I still remembered them both this day as well as I offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for their souls and the souls of all departed men and women who at one time or another fought for our country.
Let us also not forget to pray for our soldiers serving our country right now, who even as I write this blog, are in harms way. May God bless and protect them! May we all always be grateful to God for our service men and women. May we always be grateful to God for the freedom that we enjoy because of them. Most of all, let us always keep in mind that our true freedom comes from God Himself, purchased by the Blood of the Lamb – our Savior Jesus Christ!
